Welcome to LRS Designs. My name is Louise, let me tell you a little bit about myself and my sewing journey.
As the youngest of five children, I was always wearing hand me downs, and I decided at a young age when I was older, I would not be wearing anyone else’s clothes.
I began my sewing journey in 4-H; starting with small home décor projects, progressing to garments for myself as a teen and during my adult business career, expanding and improving my skills. While living on Vancouver Island, the opportunity to own my own business arose; doing alterations, custom garment construction, and design. After 6 successful years, I chose to attend Helen Lefeaux Inc. School of Fashion Design to further expand my sewing skills, knowledge in pattern drafting and fashion apparel. Returning to Alberta, I continued custom sewing and alterations from my home while my career took another path, into the retail pharmacy. The transition to a backstage role once again required business attire, providing me the opportunity to design and construct garments for myself as well as some of my colleagues. It was a great compliment when I was asked where I bought the suit I was wearing. My suits have lasted years, and although I was sad to see some go, I needed to make room in the closet for the new ones that eagerly awaited to be constructed.
When the company underwent a corporate restructuring, I found myself no longer in that area of business. With this change to my career, I began to look at opportunities that would allow me to return to my first passion which is sewing.
I learned early on that to buy the best fabric that I could afford (there is something to the saying of buying quality over quantity). With that thought in mind, and seeing the quality of clothing in the stores today, I found that I once again wanted to create beautiful garments of quality that are affordable, beautifully tailored and that one will reach for time and again for the way they feel when wearing it; so I created LRS Designs.
At LRS Designs, I have created a 20 piece clothing line that is classic, timeless, elegant and comfortable. Each piece is tailored to your measurements. Prices shown in the catalogue are for the construction of the garment only (unless stated). Fabric, lining, notions are not included. We do have a small selection of fabric available for purchase.
How about having your favorite garment copied and sewn up in a new fabric? Or that pattern you just had to have but do not have the time, we can take care of that for you.
