Wardrobe planning
We have all seen the various sites, books, and instructions on how to build a capsule wardrobe.
Do they really work and are they practical?
As we begin this new year, follow me through my journey as I rebuild my wardrobe for my lifestyle today.
Step # 1
This is the hardest (or easiest) part, depending on how you look at it. I am going through my entire wardrobe (closet, dressers, etc) and trying on everything. Most of the garments fit, though some are looking a bit worn. My plan is to start from scratch, keeping only the essentials as I begin my wardrobe rebuild. Since I will be sewing the majority of the garments, I plan to track and record the cost for all the garments.
Here is the list of my first 20 garments. I have chosen black for my first base color. I have added white, beige, chambray, and a print.
From the black, I will have a suit jacket, pants, skirt, shift dress, vest, and a t-shirt.
From the white, I will have a t-shirt, a long-sleeve white shirt, and a sleeveless shirt.
From the beige, I will have a pair of casual pants, shorts, and a trench coat.
From the chambray, I will have a sleeveless shirt and a statement top.
From the print, I will have a shift dress and a statement top.
I also will combine the black and white for the shell top, zippered cardigan, and long sleeve t-shirt.
The last item is skinny jeans, which I plan to purchase.
I will be using wool/silk blend, cotton, cotton knit, silk, chambray for the majority of the garments, and a gaberdine for the trench.
